I first turned to over 30 years ago as a way to relieve the stress of my job as a Child Protection Lawyer in London, England. I started off with VHS tapes at home, and then some classes at a studio, where my best friend and I got thrown out for laughing when we fell over in wobbly postures!
When I moved to Canada to be with my husband in 2002, I was delighted to find the fun and relaxed atmosphere at the Yoga Yard in Red Deer, and was soon taking several classes there a week. A couple of years after having our last child, I began the 3 year long journey of taking my Yoga Association of Alberta teacher training. During this time, and I was lucky enough to learn from Dr Ananda, Marion "Muggs" McConnel, Doug Swenson, Tracey Delfs, Judith Mirus, Yogi Amandeep Singh, David McAmmond and David Wilson. My latest re-certification with the YAA was their 500 hour level certificate.
For the past several years, I have taught in my local communities of Caroline, Sundre, Innisfail and Spruce View, as well as for the City of Red Deer. I teach several different yoga practices, from Yin to Ashtanga (Power flow) classes, as well as Mindfulness and Meditation techniques. I teach all age groups and abilities. There is always something new to learn - and I have the best teachers in my wonderful students!
